Ranunculus is a pretty, cheerful winter flower popular in weddings. Many layers of petals create a ruffled flower. The centre of the flower can sometimes be a bright green fluffy texture, giving the name “teddy bear” ranunculus. Their name comes from the Latin for “little frog” and they are originally from the Middle East. A buttercup is also a kind of ranunculus; but although the romantic children’s story vision is of fields full of cows munching away on buttercups, they are actually very poisonous to livestock.

Ahhhhh. As we enter the darker days of winter and the evil cold and flu season, seeing what is happening with you injects me with thoughts of life and color and scent. Thanks, Emma!
